Sofía Brambilla, Argentine congresswoman and global advocate, champions women's political rights, social policy, and sustainable development. President of IWDU, she's empowering women worldwide through alliances and transformative initiatives.

Sofia Brambilla

Sofía Brambilla is a member of the National Congress of Argentina, representing the province of Corrientes. She was elected for the 2017-2021 term and re-elected 2021 for another four years in parliament. Since 2022 she has been President of the International Women Democracy Union (IWDU).

She holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires. Her career has focused on public policy, particularly social policy.

Prior to her election as deputy, she worked for 15 years in non-governmental organizations and was the founder of the NGO "Alianza Nea", whose objective is to promote citizen participation through the strengthening of social organizations, the creation of social control mechanisms that contribute to well-being, institutional quality and economic development. Subsequently, she worked in public management as manager of the National Social Security Administration (ANSES) in her hometown of Goya, Corrientes (2016-2017).

She is co-founder of the Women's Network of the Union of Latin American Parties (UPLA Women's Network). In this role, she was the director of the book "More Women, Better Politics" to prevent, punish and eradicate political violence against women (UPLA-Westminster Foundation for Democracy).

In the Honourable Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, in her work as a National Deputy, she is Vice President of the Committee of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, and member of the Committees of Social Action and Public Health; Family, Children and Youth; Women, Gender and Diversity; Economy and Regional Development; and Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.

For the past 6 years, she has worked to promote women's political rights around the world, holding conferences in different continents and encouraging the formation of political alliances among women.
