Nguyen Hong Long is a leading personality in Vietnam’s clean technology and sustainable business landscape. With over 25 years of experience, he pioneered biomass gasification technology, turning agricultural waste into clean energy to cut pollution and fight climate change. Beyond this, he is a policy advocate for balancing climate imperatives with sustainable development, empowering sustainable start-ups, and strengthening the ecosystem for sustainable entrepreneurship in Vietnam.

As the founder and director of the Center for Creativity and Sustainability (CCS), Mr. Nguyen Hong Long leads a nonprofit organisation dedicated to advancing cleantech innovation through research, consultancy, and capacity-building. With a Master’s degree in Product Design Development and Manufacturing Engineering, he has spent over 25 years pioneering clean technology solutions, with a focus on renewable energy, environmental protection, and sustainable product design.

One of his most significant contributions is GaSIO, a volumetric continuous biomass gasification technology that transforms agricultural waste into clean energy. Developed with his colleagues, the system converts materials like corncobs and wood chips into synthesis gas for heat generation and biochar for soil enrichment. This innovation not only reduces air pollution but also provides an accessible energy alternative for low-income communities, bridging the gap between sustainability and economic opportunity.

Beyond technology development, he is a leading policy consultant, shaping Vietnam’s economic sustainable transition through contributions to renewable energy and circular economy policies. Since 2020, he has also served as co-organiser and national mentor for ClimateLaunchpad Vietnam - the world’s largest green business competition co-hosted in Vietnam by CCS and Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam. This initiative guides startups towards impactful, scalable solutions for climate challenges. His mentorship has helped start-ups secure training, funding, and access to global networks, further strengthening Vietnam’s sustainable business landscape.

A scientist, consultant, and advocate for innovation, Long continues to drive the intersection of technology, policy, and entrepreneurship in Vietnam’s fight against climate change.
